Overview of the Department

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecological nursing was established in the year 1994. The department’s policy is directed toward the provision of quality professional services and performs the task holistically with reference to the women, neonates and their families.

Philosophy of the Department

The faculty of OBG Nursing department believes that, the undergraduate and postgraduate programme prepares nurses for leadership positions in nursing and health fields who can function as specialist nurse practitioners, consultants, administrators, educationists and investigators in a wide variety of professional setting in meeting the national priority and the changing needs of the society.

Objectives of the Department

The department aims to bring the behavioral changes in each student through the stated objectives.

  1. To develop the basic obstetrics and gynaecological knowledge and skill required to work and perform as able midwives in various health care settings.
  2. To improve midwifery practice & encourage a uniform standard of practice by providing quality evidence based care.

Lab Facilities of the Department

The departmental lab is well equipped with Birthing Simulator to demonstrate the normal & abnormal mechanism of labor.
OBG Related models, Flip charts, Instruments, Drugs, maternal pelvis & fetal skull.
